Respect for human rights and human dignity are the principles of the European construction, despite the different visions that animate it.
This is the message that the Holy See reiterated during the "Building Europe together" summit, organized from 7 to 9 January at the University of Strasbourg, to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the presence of the mission of the Holy See at the European Council.
Msgr. Bruno Marie Duffé, Secretary of the Dicastery, and Fr. Fabio Baggio, Under-Secretary of the Migrants and Refugees Section, took part in the meetings, together with H.E. Msgr. Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with the States of the Holy See.
The Holy See has been present to the Council of Europe with Observer status since 7 March 1970.
