Today, April 22, coinciding with the celebrations of the 52nd World Earth Day, which reaffirms the importance of the environment and the safeguarding of the planet, we are pleased to announce the launching of the Laudato si' Week. In the meantime, continue the promotion of the Laudato Si' Action Platform - promoted by the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, under the inspiration of the Holy Father Francis.
May 24 will also mark the seventh anniversary of Pope Francis' encyclical Laudato Si' on the care of our common home.
From May 22 to 29, on the occasion of this anniversary, the Dicastery will promote the initiatives of Laudato si' Week. The main objectives will be to raise awareness of the importance of the encyclical, to promote the principles of integral ecology and to begin together the journey towards ecological conversion.
The Dicastery hopes that everyone, accompanied and supported by the ecclesial community, will feel called to undertake in a synodal spirit the seven-year "journey" proposed by the Laudato si' Platform for Action, adhering to one of the seven identified sectors and promoting the seven "Laudato si' Objectives".
The Laudato si' Week will be articulated in a series of global and local events. The common thread of these initiatives will be the seven objectives of Laudato si' and the seven sectors of the Laudato si' Platform. Specifically, each day will be dedicated to one of the individual Objectives, which globally form and underpin the concept of integral ecology.
In particular, the Dicastery encourages local communities to organize events on the theme. They can be uploaded and shared on the LaudatoSiWeek.org website.
