Panama City will host the 10th Meeting of Bishops and migration pastoral agents of North America, Central America and the Caribbean from 19-23 August 2024 with the theme: "Walking with the migrant and the refugee".

The Prefect of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, Cardinal Michael Czerny SJ, is participating in the meeting and is making some pastoral visits, among them, to the Darien Gap.

The objective of this X Meeting is "to ensure the achievement and follow-up of the agreements and commitments of the IX Meeting of Bishops and migration pastoral agents of the region of Central America, the Caribbean and North America (Mexico, USA and Canada), held in August 2023 in San Salvador, to continue walking together with people in mobility in the construction of dignified and safe options in the face of the challenges of the current migratory reality".

This important meeting also follows other meetings, such as those held at the borders between Guatemala and Mexico in June 2024 ; between Peru, Chile and Bolivia in June 2024 ; between Panama, Colombia and Costa Rica in March 2024  ; between Ecuador and Colombia in May 2023  ; between Colombia and Venezuela in January 2020  , among others.

In addition to the Border Bishops and pastoral agents, representatives of the Socio-pastoral Observatory of Human Mobility of Mesoamerica and the Caribbean (Osmeca) and the Latin American and Caribbean Ecclesial Network on Migration, Displacement, Refuge and Human Trafficking (Red Clamor) are also participating.
