Dolentium Hominum
The Dolentium Hominum journal is a collection of the Acts of the International Conferences organized by the Pontifical Council for Health Care Workers (since August 2016 merged into the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development) from 1986 to 2016.
The name of the publication recalls the Motu Proprio "Dolentium Hominum" of Pope John Paul II, with which the Pontiff, in 1985, established the Pontifical Commission for the Pastoral Care of Health Care Workers, that later became a Pontifical Council, called to spread, explain and defend the teachings of the Church in the field of health, and promote their use within health practices.
The journal - explained Cardinal Fiorenzo Angelini, first President of the Pontifical Commission for the Pastoral Care of Health Care Workers - was intended as an "instrument for learning the directives of the Pontifical Magisterium and that of the Bishops, the liaison body of all the health organizations and institutions of the Catholic world, a debate center for the most current medical-moral problems, a means of careful and verified information".
