The Catholic Church and the Holy See were protagonists of the International EXPO 2017 Future energy Exhibition held in Astana, capital of Kazakhstan, from June 10 to September 10, 2017.
The Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development publishes a document with the account of what happened, since the preparatory phases, with a particular focus on the pavilion of the Holy See and on the projects promoted by the Church, related to energy, presented during EXPO 2017.
Among the events organized in Astana and presented in this report, also the Day dedicated to the Holy See that was celebrated at the exhibition site with the participation of a Russian Catholic choir, an Energy Conference hosted by the Nazarbayev University and an interreligious Conference at which a Declaration on Energy Issues was signed.
The document contains various texts dating back to that period, including the Theme statement of the Holy See and the Message of the Holy Father prepared for the Exhibition, contributions by members of various religions, and the aforementioned Declaration.
In addition, a project launched in the center 'The Ark Village', and still active today, is presented to accommodate about 60 orphans who are offered food, accommodation, medical care and training.
