The health emergency caused by the Covid-19 pandemic has greatly stressed, at times to the point of exhaustion, health care workers. Engaged in their service on the front lines of this emergency, health workers and other health actors have been and continue to be exposed to high levels of stress.
In the face of the alarming threat to their health, we are all called, just like the Good Samaritan, to make ourselves available as neighbors; to become a community of men and women who make the fragility of others their own concern, for the sake of the common good (cf. Fratelli tutti, n. 67).
Seeking to actualize this essential aim, in the year that, among other things, the World Health Organization dedicates to the Health and Care Workers "in appreciation and gratitude for their unwavering dedication in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic", the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development is has organized five video conferences on the theme: “Accompanying Health Care Workers in the Context of the Covid-19 Pandemic” which took place on 8, 9 and 10 June 2021.
The Video conferences helped participants understand the impact of the pandemic on health care workers and all those involved in the network of care and assistance. With testimonies and experiences we tried to answer an important question: how can we accompany health and pastoral workers involved on the front lines of the pandemic?
The five conferences were organized according to regions and time zones (Europe, USA & Canada, Africa & Middle East, Asia & Oceania and Latin America). The Schedule of the Conferences is as follows:
8 JUNE
EUROPE (10:30-12:30 CEST)
